Vikings name Kyler Murray 2026 starting quarterback amid QB future questions

Summary

Kyler Murray has been named the Minnesota Vikings' starting quarterback for the 2026 season, as confirmed by head coach Kevin O'Connell. This decision concludes a competitive training camp that included 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy. Murray's one-year deal, which includes a no-tag clause, raises questions about the Vikings' long-term QB strategy post-2026. The franchise may need to consider contract negotiations for Murray or explore trade options for McCarthy, depending on how both players perform this season. The upcoming NFL draft could also see the Vikings targeting other quarterbacks as they evaluate their future.
