Vikings sign Kyle Van Noy and retain J.J. McCarthy for season

The Minnesota Vikings signed veteran edge rusher Kyle Van Noy to the practice squad to bolster their pass rush rotation. The team previously relied on Jonathan Greenard, Andrew Van Ginkel, and Dallas Turner, but experienced declining sack production last season following injuries to Greenard and Van Ginkel. Van Noy reunites with defensive coordinator Brian Flores, having played under his scheme in New England and Miami. Meanwhile, the organization confirmed J.J. McCarthy will remain on the roster despite outside speculation regarding his future. McCarthy returned to practice this week following an ankle injury and currently competes with Carson Wentz for the backup quarterback position behind starter Kyler Murray. Minnesota plans to implement its opening game plan against the Green Bay Packers this week.
