Meadowbrook sophomore Vincent Campbell captured the boys individual cross country title at the annual Newcomerstown Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 5, finishing with a time of 15:42. Shenandoah secured the team championship with 85 points, outpacing other regional competitors. In other area sports, the Cambridge volleyball team improved to 4-3 by sweeping Harrison Central, while the girls soccer squad maintained a three-game winning streak following a 4-0 shutout against New Lexington. On the tennis courts, Beaver Local recorded a 3-2 victory over Cambridge, despite wins from the Bobcats' first and second doubles teams. John Glenn’s soccer program fell to 2-3-1 after a 5-1 loss to Logan, and their volleyball team dropped a match to Sheridan on Thursday, Sept. 3. Competition remains active as teams look toward upcoming league and nonleague contests throughout the month.
