The sale of the Seattle Seahawks to Vinod Khosla from the estate of Paul G. Allen reached completion on Thursday. The $9.612 billion transaction follows a unanimous ratification vote by NFL owners last week. The new ownership structure features a group of 14 investors including private equity firms Carlyle, Dynasty, and Sixth Street. Other minority stakeholders include Penny Pritzker, Mark Stevens, and the Aramburuzabala family. This deal marks the seventh time an NFL franchise has incorporated private equity into its ownership group since league policy changed in August 2024. Under current NFL regulations, private equity firms are permitted to hold a collective stake of up to 10% in a team.
