Virginia football enters the AP Top 25 poll following opening win

Virginia debuted at No. 25 in the Week 1 AP Poll released Tuesday. The ranking follows a 34-8 victory over NC State in a Week 0 game at Scott Stadium. The Cavaliers dominated the line of scrimmage, rushing for 258 yards and holding a 413-168 advantage in total yardage. This appearance marks the earliest point in a season that the program has been ranked since 2005. Virginia remains one of several ACC teams in the top 25, joined by Miami, SMU, and Louisville. The team will return to action this Friday with a home game against Norfolk State. Following the Norfolk State matchup, Virginia faces a schedule that includes only one other currently ranked opponent in SMU.
