Virginia Tech and West Virginia basketball rivalry returns this November

Virginia Tech and West Virginia will rekindle their basketball rivalry starting this November, playing over the next three years. West Virginia will host the initial game in 2026, followed by matches at Virginia Tech in 2027 and in Charleston, West Virginia in 2028. The rivalry includes a history of 79 games, with West Virginia leading 49-30. The teams last competed in December 2015, where West Virginia won 88-63. The renewal of the rivalry comes after calls from WVU football coach Rich Rodriguez for regional schools to schedule more frequent matchups.
