Virginia Tech cornerback commitment Chase Johnson is attending the Georgia season opener against Tennessee State at Sanford Stadium. The high school recruit from Swainsboro, Georgia, is currently committed to Virginia Tech but is evaluating other programs. Johnson is a member of the class of 2027 and plays for Emmanuel County Institute. His visit comes as Georgia continues to address a vacancy at the cornerback position within its 2027 recruiting class. While Georgia has secured 20 total commitments for the cycle, the team currently holds no pledges at cornerback. Johnson, ranked by 247Sports as the No. 42 cornerback nationally, also considered Louisville and Florida State before his commitment to Virginia Tech in May. The Bulldogs currently hold the No. 9 ranked recruiting class in the nation.
