Vozinha earns Yashin Trophy finalist nomination after FIFA World Cup performance

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha was named one of 10 finalists for the Yashin Trophy, the annual award recognizing the world’s top goalkeeper. This nomination follows an performance during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he kept clean sheets against Spain, Uruguay, and Saudi Arabia. Cape Verde finished second in Group H before being eliminated by Argentina in a 3-2 extra-time match in the Round of 32. Vozinha’s international play led to a significant increase in his social media following and a subsequent 18-month contract signing with Chilean club Colo Colo in July.
