Wales appoints Paul James as permanent scrum coach

Wales has appointed Paul James as the national team’s permanent scrum coach, effective this summer. The 44-year-old former prop, who previously served in a temporary role during the 2026 Six Nations, brings extensive experience coaching with Ospreys since 2018. James, who earned 66 caps for Wales and played in two Rugby World Cups, will collaborate with Danny Wilson on set pieces. His initial tasks will focus on preparations for the inaugural Nations Championship beginning next month. James expressed enthusiasm for his new role and commitment to player development outside of international matches.
