Walsh University holds off West Liberty in football season opener

Walsh University defeated West Liberty 30-27 in their college football season opener on August 27 in West Liberty, West Virginia. After building a commanding 30-13 lead, Walsh faced a late surge as West Liberty scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. However, a crucial defensive stand allowed Walsh to secure the win, as West Liberty's final drive ended in four incomplete passes. Jake Gill contributed significantly for Walsh, scoring two rushing touchdowns and catching a touchdown pass. Quarterback Hayden Wickard threw for 228 yards, including a 62-yard touchdown pass to Brady Gooding, who led receivers with two catches for 110 yards.
