Warwick and Kingston boys and girls claim titles at Wave Mania

The Section 9 cross country season opened Saturday at Sanfordville Elementary with the Warwick Valley Wave Mania. Junior Leo Shostal paced the Warwick boys to the Varsity I team title, finishing the 3.09-mile course in 16 minutes, 35.3 seconds to secure a win by nearly 29 seconds. Kingston also secured a team victory, winning the girls Varsity I competition with 53 points, bolstered by top-four finishes from seniors Charlotte McFarland and Maeve Paul. In other Varsity I action, Scarsdale junior Adriana Pettinelli dominated the girls field with a 54-second winning margin. The event featured multiple varsity divisions, with Manhasset and Northern Valley-Old Tappan also taking home team titles in their respective races.
