Washington Commanders and Miami Dolphins waive former Panthers draft picks

The Washington Commanders plan to waive outside linebacker DJ Johnson, while the Miami Dolphins released wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. on Sunday. Both players were formerly selected by the Carolina Panthers during the tenure of general manager Scott Fitterer. Johnson, a third-round pick in 2023, recorded 62 combined tackles and half a sack over 31 appearances for Carolina before being waived in September 2025. He joined the Washington practice squad in December and signed a reserve/future deal in January. Marshall, a second-round pick in 2021, was also let go by his current team as NFL rosters undergo adjustments. These roster moves continue a trend of departures for players acquired during Fitterer’s time leading the Carolina front office.
