Washington Commanders release running back Robert Henry Jr after preseason

The Washington Commanders waived undrafted rookie running back Robert Henry Jr. as part of final roster reductions on August 30, 2026. Henry, who played at Jones College and the University of Texas at San Antonio, logged 2,339 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns during his final three collegiate seasons. The running back gained notice during training camp and OTAs but saw inconsistent preseason results. He recorded 75 rushing yards and a touchdown in the opening exhibition game, followed by negative yardage and a fumble against Detroit, and 33 yards against Baltimore. Although the organization cut the player, he remains a potential candidate for the practice squad if he clears waivers.
