Washington Nationals select Jack Sinclair and designate Max Kranick for assignment

The Washington Nationals selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Jack Sinclair ahead of a six-game road trip beginning Friday. Sinclair, 27, joins the major league roster after posting a 4.03 ERA and 74 strikeouts across 60.1 innings with Triple-A Rochester this season. To create room on the roster, the team designated right-handed pitcher Max Kranick for assignment. Kranick struggled during his time with the club, recording a 9.33 ERA and allowing eight earned runs over his last 1.2 innings of work. The Nationals also announced that left-handed pitcher Tom Cosgrove has cleared waivers and accepted an assignment to Triple-A Rochester. The team begins a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night, with Jackson Kent scheduled to start on the mound opposite Blake Snell.
