Washington Wizards promote Amber Nichols to vice president of basketball operations

The Washington Wizards promoted Amber Nichols to vice president of basketball operations and personnel on Tuesday. Nichols, a former general manager for the Capital City Go-Go, joined the organization after serving in several roles, including director of amateur evaluation. During her tenure with the G League affiliate, she guided the team to four consecutive conference quarterfinal appearances while maintaining a winning record in her final three seasons. General manager Will Dawkins previously highlighted Nichols for her work during the 2026 NBA Draft process. A former Richmond basketball player and Forbes 30 Under 30 selection, Nichols has also held positions in scouting, statistics, and game day operations. The Wizards prepare for their first preseason game against the New York Knicks on October 8 at Madison Square Garden, followed by the regular season opener against the Milwaukee Bucks on October 21 at Capital One Arena.
