Wayne and Holmes County athletes open nominations for weekly award

Public voting is open for the Wooster Daily Record Athlete of the Week poll covering performances from August 24 through August 29. Candidates include Lea Ferrell from Chippewa girls soccer, who anchored a defensive effort in a 3-0 victory over Norwayne. Harper Hamilton of Tuslaw girls soccer contributed a goal in a 2-1 road win against Orrville. Wooster girls golf athlete Ava Scott medaled with a second-place finish at the Ohio Cardinal Conference meet with an 87. In football, Austin Houser of Triway rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-13 victory over Norwayne, while Collin Caley of Loudonville recorded 140 rushing yards and two touchdowns in a 55-13 win against New London. The poll opened Monday, August 31, and closes Wednesday, September 2, at 5 p.m.
