WBA super-featherweight champion Anthony Cacace has been elevated to super champion status ahead of his title defense against Nick Ball on December 19 at The O2 in London. The sanctioning body ruled that the winner of this bout must face Elnur Samedov in their next contest. The WBA previously ordered a mandatory defense against Samedov, but the British Boxing Board of Control denied the Russian fighter entry, forcing a suspension of negotiations. Consequently, the WBA permitted a voluntary defense under Rule C.40 until the mandatory situation is resolved. The winner of the upcoming match has 12 days to confirm their availability for a bout against Samedov on neutral territory. No further exemptions will be granted to the winner, and no unification bouts will be sanctioned until a single champion is established in the division.
