Weather delays the UAlbany and Buffalo football game at Broadview Stadium

The nonleague football game between the University at Albany and the University at Buffalo began two and a half hours behind schedule on Thursday night. Heavy rain and lightning forced the kickoff to move from 7:02 p.m. to 9:44 p.m. Officials from both programs, including athletic directors Mark Benson and Mark Alnutt, inspected the playing surface at Broadview Stadium before clearing the game for play. Grounds crews applied turf pellets to wet areas on the field and near the sidelines to ensure safety. This contest follows a trend for the Great Danes, who faced significant weather-related delays during a game last season at Delaware State. The matchup proceeded after officials determined that the field conditions had improved sufficiently for play to continue.
