Thomas Weikert announced he will not run for another term as president of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) in December. In a statement, he cited a lack of personal strength to fulfill the demands of the role for another four years, despite stating that opposition from sports federations did not influence his decision. Weikert, 64, has led the DOSB since December 2021 and previously served as the president of the world governing body for table tennis. A committee will identify potential successors to Weikert, with organizations invited to submit proposals until October 30. The DOSB assembly is scheduled for December 5 in Frankfurt.

"Thomas Weikert will not not run for another term as president of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) in December. "I feel that I no longer have the strength to devote myself to the duties of a president for another four years at full throttle - and nothing less is what the DOSB would deserve," Weikert said in a statement on the DOSB website on Thursday.
