Welsh track cyclist Ioan Hepburn is moving to Manchester to train full-time with the Great Britain senior team. The 18-year-old concluded his junior career this summer by earning individual sprint and keirin gold medals at the World Junior Track Cycling Championships in Belgium. During his Commonwealth Games debut in Glasgow, Hepburn recorded a 200m flying time trial speed of 9.807 seconds, establishing a new British junior record. The teenager previously suffered a serious injury at 13 that resulted in the loss of a kidney but returned to competitive cycling three months later. He now prepares to train under the guidance of seven-time Olympic gold medalist Sir Jason Kenny. Hepburn plans to apply the training methods of senior riders to his own routine as he targets Olympic and Commonwealth Games medals in the coming cycle.
