West Chester martial artists earn nine medals at world karate championship

Four athletes from the Buckner Martial Arts dojo in West Chester Township secured nine medals at the WUKF World Karate Championships held recently in Romania. Ruby Culligan led the group by winning three gold medals in individual events, including Kata, Kobudo, and Kumite. Caleb Gossard earned gold in Kumite and Team Kumite along with a bronze medal in Kata. Ishan Reddy captured two gold medals in team events, while Abi Kasberg earned a silver medal in Kumite. The team prepared for the international competition through rigorous daily training sessions held for two weeks prior to the event. Coach Nader Azzouzi noted that the athletes were selected for the AAU Karate Team USA, which featured 167 total participants.
