On August 26, Western Illinois University celebrated the installation of a new synthetic turf surface at Hanson Field in Macomb. The project, completed by SprinTurf LLC, was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by community members. The upgraded field features the Rocky Head mascot logo and Ohio Valley Conference logos, replacing the old surface that had reached the end of its lifespan. University officials aim to enhance both the athlete experience and the broader campus community's use of the facility. The field will host six home football games as well as performances by the Marching Leathernecks.
