Whitecaps salvage 1-1 draw against LAFC with late penalty from Müller

The Vancouver Whitecaps secured a 1-1 draw with Los Angeles FC on August 1 in Vancouver. After controlling much of the first half, the Whitecaps trailed at halftime due to a goal from Son Heung-min. Thomas Müller equalized with a penalty kick in the 76th minute after being fouled by Yevhen Cheberko. Both teams remain tied in the Western Conference standings with 34 points each. The Whitecaps will next face Seattle on August 16, while LAFC will host San Diego on August 15.
