Wichita Falls swim team invites new members after facility closure

The Wichita Falls Elite Swim Team is seeking new members following the closure of its practice facility earlier this year. For 26 years, the team practiced at the Boys and Girls Club pool, which closed in February due to financial issues. The program, known as W.E.S.T., has experienced a decline in participation, partly due to using smaller pools in collaboration with the YMCA. The team is currently holding summer practices at the Iowa Park pool and offering camp-style sessions to attract young swimmers. A new YMCA natatorium is expected to open at the end of August, which aims to stabilize the program and boost membership moving forward.
