Wigan Warriors host funeral service for rugby league legend Sir Billy Boston

The funeral for rugby league icon Sir Billy Boston is being held today at the Brick Community Stadium in Wigan. The service is scheduled for 12:30 BST, allowing a limited number of supporters to attend. Before the ceremony, a cortege will travel through Wigan, with the route passing through the stadium tunnel as part of the final tribute. Sir Billy Boston passed away last month at the age of 92. As a player, he recorded 571 career tries and became the first rugby league athlete to receive a knighthood. Mourners have been encouraged by the family to wear traditional funeral attire, though items featuring the club's cherry red colors are permitted. A private burial will follow the stadium service.
