Wightman and Calvert win gold at UK Athletics Championships

Jake Wightman and Sarah Calvert earned gold medals at the UK Athletics Championships held in Birmingham on June 21, 2026. Calvert, a 24-year-old from Livingston AC, repeated her previous year's victory in the 1500m, achieving a season's best time of 4:07.82. She outpaced Olympic silver medallist Laura Muir, who finished third, as England's Katie Snowden took second place. Wightman successfully claimed the 800m title, finishing ahead of Ben Pattison. The championship also saw Andrew Butchart taking silver in the 5000m, while Nicole Yeargin placed fourth in the 400m.
