The main event of tonight’s (June 28) AEW Forbidden Door pay-per-view featured Will Ospreay vs. Swerve Strickland in the final match of the men’s Owen Hart Tournament. The winner earns an AEW world title shot in the main event of the company’s biggest show of the year, All In London, at Wembley Stadium. This match lasted for the better part of an hour and included seemingly infinite false finishes, with each man losing a ton of blood along the way. Swerve in particular left behind a pool of blood outside the ring. The constant finisher kick outs and extreme blood loss led AEW commentator Tony Schiavone to wonder what happens if neither man could continue. Ospreay and Swerve then kicked out of each other’s finishers on a one count before both men did indeed collapse. WHAT. A. MATCH! He showed off the necessary killer instinct to win by unleashing the most dangerous move in his arsenal that he once swore to never use again, the Tiger Driver 91.
