Wilson Memorial, Fort Defiance open volleyball season with wins

In season-opening non-district volleyball matches on August 25, Wilson Memorial defeated Spotswood, bouncing back after dropping the second set to win 3-1. Bree Kindig led Wilson with seven aces and 23 digs. Fort Defiance secured a sweep against Turner Ashby, winning all three sets, with Caroline Hanger recording 11 kills. Buffalo Gap also triumphed against Nelson County, taking their match 3-0, aided by Bailey Tribble's 10 kills. Staunton finished strong against Rocktown, winning all three sets, while Stuarts Draft overcame Stonewall Jackson 3-1. These matches highlighted strong performances from several teams in the Shenandoah District.
