Wrexham nearing signing of Preston captain Ben Whiteman

Wrexham AFC is set to finalize the acquisition of Ben Whiteman, captain of Preston North End. Whiteman, who completed a medical on Tuesday, has made 200 Championship appearances. His current club manager, Paul Heckingbottom, expressed disappointment over the player's push for a transfer, claiming Whiteman indicated he had played his final game for Preston. With the approval of his transfer, Whiteman will become Wrexham’s second summer signing, following Danny Imray from Crystal Palace. Additionally, Wrexham midfielder George Dobson is reportedly a target for Sheffield Wednesday.
