WWE is auctioning off El Grande Americano’s ring-worn mask from Noche de Los Grandes at its online store, with the net proceeds going to charity. When bidding began on June 13, bids quickly shot above $1,000. By June 17, that number had soared past $40,000 for a piece of historic pro wrestling/lucha libre memorabilia. “But Noble Scribe, I don’t have $40,000 to blow on a mask.” I hear you, dear reader. Forty grand and climbing is pretty rich even for this writer’s blood. Fortunately, there’s a reasonably priced item up for auction at WWE Shop that, while it may not yet have historical significance, seems like a pretty cool item to display in your fan cave. On Monday, bidding began on an authentic match-used trash can lid from NXT Vengeance Day’s Street Fight slobberknocker between Jaida Parker and Blake Monroe. The noticeably dented lid includes messages and autographs from the two wrestlers. Monroe’s inscription reads, “I just took the trash out! You’re welcome, Love, Blake Monroe.” Not to be outdone, Ms. Parker kept the trash talk going, writing back, “She’s talkin’ bout herself,” with an arrow pointing back at Monroe. By 12:45 p.m. ET on Wednesday, the bid had reached $300. The last day to bid is June 29. As the saying goes, “One wrestler’s trash is a wrestling fan’s treasure,” or something like that.
