Top rumor of the day: WWE White House event On his podcast, Joe Rogan claimed that UFC Freedom 250 at the White House was “one of the most watched sporting events in the history of the world,” with more than 150 million people viewing the show. Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer described Rogan’s statement as “total bullshit.” Meanwhile, Paramount announced that the event averaged 8.2 million viewers across the U.S. and Latin America, making it “the biggest exclusive live event” ever on Paramount+. The streamer also says nearly 17 million people in these regions watched at least one minute of the event. If you believe these numbers, it’s a far cry from Rogan’s bogus claim, as well as the Trump administration comparing it to the moon landing. Several WWE stars attended the show, including Triple H and Roman Reigns. However, WrestleVotes Radio said it doesn’t look like WWE will try to follow in UFC’s footsteps “any time soon,” despite their strong relationship with President Trump. WWE is definitely open to the idea of running a White House event in the future, but the main issue is that it just doesn’t make financial sense to do it the same way UFC did. If that aspect of the situation changes, then a WWE ring might one day be set up on the White House lawn as well, especially because we live in the dumbest timeline. The rest of the rumors! Per Fightful Select, there has been a “significant shuffling” of WWE’s creative plans due to Rhea Ripley’s knee injury: “Several plans have been adjusted in the event that Ripley will be sidelined for a significant period of time.” Multiple women on the SmackDown roster will be affected by these changes. WrestleVotes Radio heard there are people in WWE who are pushing for Chad Gable to be featured in a major way at SummerSlam, which takes place in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The outlet was also told that WWE’s relationship with Cyndi Lauper has improved. The probability that she is inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame is “higher than ever.” F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer indicates that Road Dogg is “most likely” joining TNA’s creative team following the release of Tommy Dreamer. He thinks Dogg will probably make “the same money, if not more” than Dreamer. While discussing WWE’s wrestling war against CMLL in Mexico and against AEW in the USA, Meltzer claimed that “somebody was upset that [Tessa Blanchard] was working for CMLL, which is on the AEW side.” Given that TNA is on WWE’s side of the war in the USA, the company “basically told her that you’ve got to choose.” According to PW Insider, TNA and Ohio Valley Wrestling are working on a deal that would turn OVW into “essentially a developmental system for TNA.” It’s expected that the deal will be signed “very soon.” TNA President Carlos Silva has apparently been in attendance at several recent OVW shows, but wasn’t there for its 1400th episode.
