WWE creative staff prepares for Bayley to return to Raw
Summary

WWE is planning for the return of Bayley to television within the next few weeks. She has been absent from programming since her loss to Lyra Valkyria at the July Saturday Night's Main Event. While reports indicate that creative teams are currently pitching ideas for her return, there is no official confirmation that the 37-year-old wrestler has signed a contract extension. Her previous deal is set to expire toward the end of this year. Lyra Valkyria has continued to reference her rivalry with Bayley during recent appearances on Raw, signaling a potential resumption of their feud. Despite the absence of a signed deal, the move to include her in upcoming creative plans suggests progress in internal negotiations.

Since word came out that Bayley’s current WWE contract would be expiring at the end of this year, she’s teased the idea of joining her wrestling soulmate Mercedes Moné in AEW — as has Moné. That coinciding with her month-plus absence for WWE television spurred speculation, but then Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer and others noted that Bayley’s name was coming up on Raw a lot. That was taken as a credible sign Bayley wouldn’t be benched until her contract was up, and that WWE thought it could keep her in the fold. Now (Sept. 3), Mike Johnson reports on PWInsider Elite that WWE creative’s been pitching ideas for Bayley’s return. The expectation is she’ll be back on Raw within the next few weeks. Johnson doesn’t say that the 37-year-old four-time WWE Women’s World champ has inked a new deal. So while the decision to use her on television this fall is probably at least a sign negotiations are going well… that’s speculation, and I personally won’t be taking any more than that from this report.
