WWE NXT is set to host the Great American Bash on June 28, coinciding with AEW's Forbidden Door event and TNA's Slammiversary. Dave Meltzer discussed the strategic timing on Wrestling Observer Radio, indicating that WWE intentionally scheduled the NXT event to counter-program AEW. Meltzer suggested that the announcement, while seemingly sudden, had been in the works for some time. This follows WWE's previous tactics of counter-programming AEW events, which included last year's scheduling against AEW's All In: Texas.
