WWE officials retire both the men's and women's Speed championships

General Manager Robert Stone officially retired both the men's and women's WWE Speed championships on the September 1, 2026, episode of NXT. The decision followed a move by Women's North American Champion Zaria, who unified her title with the Women's Speed championship after a victory over Wren Sinclair and Kali Armstrong at Heatwave. During a backstage segment, Zaria confirmed she would retain only the Women's North American Championship. Stone subsequently informed Men's Speed Champion Lexis King that his title was also considered defunct. Lexis King, alongside fellow BirthRight members Charlie Dempsey, Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo, and Arianna Grace, left the office immediately following the announcement. The Speed titles were originally intended for three to five-minute matches linked to a partnership with X, but transitioned to the NXT brand following the conclusion of episodes on that platform in July 2025.
