WWE will hold three championship matches on the August 14 episode of Friday Night SmackDown at TD Garden in Boston. The scheduled bouts include Baron Corbin defending the United States Championship against Carmelo Hayes, and a Tag Team Championship match featuring Damian Priest & R-Truth against The MFTs and The War Raiders. Additionally, Tiffany Stratton will defend her title against Jacy Jayne. With a mix of anticipated title changes, WWE aims to shift the dynamics in its divisions.

"PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - AUGUST 7: WWE Tag Team Champion Lainey Reid, Jacy Jayne and WWE Tag Team Champion Fallon Henley (Fatal Influence) make their entrance during SmackDown at Xfinity Mobile Arena on August 7, 2026 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Brien Adams/WWE via Getty Images) | WWE via Getty Images WWE booked three different championship matches for next week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown at the TD Garden Arena in Boston, Massachusetts. It seems entirely possible they could do a title change in each of the three. United States Championship: Baron Corbin (c) vs. Carmelo Hayes It would be a quick title loss for Corbin, sure, but they badly need to reestablish Hayes as any kind of threat to literally anyone, and giving him a win here would do that. Corbin doesn’t need to be champion right now. If the idea was to move Trick Williams along to bigger and better things, it’s fine to make this switch already. WWE Tag Team Championship: Damian Priest & R-Truth (c) vs. The MFTs vs. The War Raiders If Shinsuke Nakamura is bringing in some backup, it makes more sense to me to have them feud with The MFTs than Priest & Truth or War Raiders, respectively. United States Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jacy Jayne There is zero wrong with Stratton as champion, as she’s been compelling enough, it’s just more so that Jayne and the rest of Fatal Influence have real potential as top heels in the division. Giving them all the gold right now is a solid play toward firmly establishing them on the blue brand. You can easily make arguments against all of this — and I encourage you to do so — but that’s my take on it.
