(Photo by Michael Owens/WWE via Getty Images) | WWE via Getty Images It’s the weekend! Let’s greet it with rumors. Lead Rumor: John Cena Classic date John Cena officially wrestled his last match in pro wrestling on Dec. 13, 2025. Now, nearly one year to the date, we may get the next John Cena pro wrestling project — The John Cena Classic. That’s right, folks. False Finish brings word that WWE is looking at holding the Classic on Dec. 12, which is still roughly four months away but at least it’s a date! Information has been sparse on what and when we can expect from this whole thing dating back to its original announcement at Backlash in May. At the time it sure seemed like they were hoping to get some additional views on the back of Cena making a ground breaking announcement, even if they had a lot of details to work out. Everything that has happened in the meantime supports that thinking. Now, though, WWE may finally be firming up the details. A cold Saturday night later this year could be made more interesting by whatever other details they decide to firm up. We’ll let you know when that happens too. Other rumors floating around On Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez claimed that no matter the outcome of the CM Punk vs. Kevin Owens match on SmackDown for the WWE championship it was always planned to be a one-and-done. According to WrestleVotes, WWE has been discussing how to freshen up the tag team division on both Raw and SmackDown. Ethan Page and Rusev teaming is apparently an idea that has been discussed. For what it’s worth, Fightful Select said they haven’t heard anything just yet on Ilja Dragunov going to AEW but he’s a free agent and able to do so whenever. TripleMania was originally planned to be a one night event but WrestleVotes notes it was changed to two nights with one night booked for Las Vegas with the hopes of attracting potential media partners. WWE filed to trademark “Giulia” on Aug. 18. It’s the second time they’ve tried; a filing made last year was closed due to lack of proper “written consent to register the name” from the “particular living individual” that will use the mark for “entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler.” Get in on this, y’all.
