- 1:00 PMCageside Seats — WWE SmackDown preview (Oct. 23, 2026): Women’s wrestling is taking over WWE SmackDown
"SmackDown airs tonight (Oct. 23) with a live show emanating from Toyota Arena in Ontario, California. This is the second episode of SmackDown during the four week build to Crown Jewel, which takes place on November 7 and is somehow still scheduled for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I guess that’s because TKO/WWE prioritizes profits and stock price over wrestler safety. Women’s wrestling is taking over WWE SmackDown WWE typically isn’t afraid to book more than one women’s match on a two hour wrestling television show. In fact, three bouts in the women’s division are currently scheduled for tonight’s episode of SmackDown. First up is Raw star Roxanne Perez challenging WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green for the gold. Roxanne recently beat Chelsea in a non-title match thanks to a minor assist from Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan. Will Liv and the rest of the Judgment Day show up tonight to ensure Roxanne wins the title, thus changing the Crown Jewel women’s match to Morgan vs. Perez? Does Money in the Bank contract holder Tiffany Stratton plan to be at ringside to neutralize any of that interference and/or cash in so she can take Chelsea’s title herself? The next women’s title match on tonight’s card features WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley making their first title defense against Michin and B-Fab. It will be a pretty big surprise if Jade Cargill’s Baddies bring home the gold, especially if Charlotte Flair is around to beat the shit out of them and/or Jade for attacking her a couple of weeks ago. Will former tag champs Fatal Influence make a statement to the new champs after the match is over? Last but not least is Giulia vs. Blake Monroe in a Street Fight. This is only The Glamour’s second televised match since she joined the main roster back in April. Will Giulia get her win back from their first bout earlier this month, or can Monroe find the right weapons under the ring to finish off The Beautiful Madness and end their feud? If women’s wrestling is your thing, then it looks like WWE has you covered on tonight’s SmackDown. The rest of the card Bakusai vs. WWE Tag Team Champions MFT is scheduled for tonight in a non-title match. Shinsuke Nakamura and Kyoki pretty much have to win this one if they want to remain viable contenders for the gold. Then again, there aren’t really any other babyface teams on the blue brand, so maybe it doesn’t even matter if they lose. Other stuff to keep an eye on – It isn’t fair to Charlotte Flair that she doesn’t have a championship around her waist. Does The Queen plan to do something about that by challenging Women’s United States Champion Jacy Jayne? – Finn Balor wasn’t around last week, so we got more hi-jinks between Danhausen and Gooner. Will Balor return tonight to smash that shit-eating grin off the Ring General’s face? – GM Nick Aldis says there will definitely be a rematch between CM Punk and Kevin Owens. Is Aldis ready to announce the date for this match? If not, which star will instigate a wild brawl tonight? – After confronting World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns earlier this week about their Crown Jewel match, will WWE Champion Sami Zayn be met with a respectful locker room when he returns to SmackDown tonight? Or does United States Champion Trick Williams plan to interrupt Sami again and possibly challenge him to a title match? – Baron Corbin is the very tall, random heel who was victim to Cody Rhodes’ punt last week. Is there an update on how many years Corbin will be out of action after Rhodes’ devastating blow? What does Cody have to say about embracing the dark side? Is GM Nick Aldis ready to book a rematch between Rhodes and Randy Orton for Crown Jewel? – Ricky Saints blew it against AAA World Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix last week by making too much physical contact with referee Charles Robinson. Will a no disqualification stipulation be added to their next title match, assuming a rematch is planned? – Nikki Bella made it sound like she’s getting a shot at the WWE women’s championship next week, but then she went out there and lost a match against Paige. Does this mean Paige has a rightful claim to be added to Nikki’s title shot and turn it into a 3-way match? – Damian Priest is such a bad man that the referee had to intervene and stop his match against R-Truth last week. Does El Malo plan to target a different babyface tonight if Truth isn’t medically cleared? – WWE’s web site is advertising a tag team title match of Raw stars LA Knight & Solo Sikoa vs. World Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker and Austin Theory for tonight. Is this dark match the next exclusive disqualification content that is planned for Club WWE members to enjoy for $99 per year? – Where the f*** is Jordynne Grace? What will you be looking for on SmackDown?
