Xander Bogaerts leaves Padres-Orioles game after being hit by pitch

Xander Bogaerts exited the San Diego Padres game against the Baltimore Orioles after being struck in the head by a pitch. The incident occurred in the top of the fifth inning when a 93-mph sinker from Orioles pitcher Trey Gibson hit him near the left ear hole. Bogaerts was initially able to walk to first base but was removed two innings later, with Sung-Mun Song taking his place at shortstop. The Padres were leading 6-2 at the time of his exit. Additionally, starting catcher Freddy Fermin also left the game after being hit in the side of the head by a warm-up pitch from reliever Yuki Matsui.
