Yankees acquire Luis Garcia Jr. and Heliot Ramos at trade deadline
Summary

On August 3, 2026, the New York Yankees made significant trades ahead of the deadline, acquiring first baseman Luis Garcia Jr. from the Washington Nationals and outfielder Heliot Ramos from the San Francisco Giants. To acquire Garcia, the Yankees traded away four pitchers: Jack Cebert, Ben Grable, Yovanny Cruz, and Jake Bird. Ramos is expected to enhance the team's performance against left-handed pitchers. However, the Yankees did not address their need for a right-handed catcher, which remains a critical gap as they pursue the AL East title. The Yankees’ trade performance received a C+ grade, indicating mixed feelings about the adequacy of their moves in bolstering the roster.
