Yankees and Mets prepare for 25th anniversary 9/11 ceremonies at Yankee Stadium

The New York Yankees and New York Mets meet tonight at Yankee Stadium to honor the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The stadium gates open at 5 p.m., with pregame ceremonies scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Personnel from the NYPD, FDNY, and Port Authority Police Department are set to participate in the presentation of colors, alongside representatives from the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and Tuesday’s Promise. Players from the 2001 Yankees roster will attend, and current team members will place a wreath at the Monument Park 9/11 monument earlier in the day. Brielle Saracini and Sean McGuire, who both lost their fathers in the 2001 tragedy, will throw the ceremonial first pitches. Lee Greenwood will perform "God Bless the USA," and James Valenti will sing the national anthem.
