Yankees catcher Mitch Garver triggers assignment clause after series win over Boston

New York Yankees catcher Mitch Garver triggered his assignment clause following the club’s weekend series against the Boston Red Sox. The veteran player, currently assigned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on a minor-league deal, now requires a decision from the organization regarding his active roster status. Other Major League Baseball teams have until 3 p.m. ET Monday to express interest in placing Garver on their active roster, which would grant the Yankees 48 hours to either promote or trade him. If no team makes an offer, he will remain within the New York farm system. The Yankees, who recently took three of four games from the Red Sox to win the season series, are evaluating whether to integrate the 10-year veteran into their major-league roster for the remainder of the campaign.
