Yankees pursue Skubal but Dodgers secure trade for ace pitcher

Summary

The New York Yankees were active in trade discussions prior to the deadline, targeting Tarik Skubal of the Detroit Tigers. However, the Los Angeles Dodgers completed a trade for Skubal just before the deadline, leaving the Yankees to seek alternatives. Earlier, the Yankees dealt Camilo Doval to the Pittsburgh Pirates for two prospects, focusing on improving their roster for the season.
