Yankees pursue trade for Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers ahead of deadline

As the MLB trade deadline approaches, the New York Yankees are focused on upgrading their catcher position. While Austin Wells' recent performance does not alleviate their need for catching help, reports indicate that the Yankees are particularly interested in Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers. Jeffers, who is recovering from a hamate fracture, has been performing well this season with a.922 OPS in 45 games. However, his impending free agency raises questions about the potential trade, as the Yankees may hesitate to give up significant prospects for a player they could lose after the season. The Yankees are expected to intensify discussions regarding Jeffers in the days leading up to the August 3 deadline.
