Yankees release reliever Rafael Montero, a former World Series champion

The New York Yankees have released right-handed reliever Rafael Montero, a 12-year MLB veteran and former World Series champion. Signed to a minor league contract in February, Montero did not make an appearance in the majors this season, largely due to visa delays and injuries.
