Yhonzae Pierre faces increased competition for sacks on Alabama defensive line

Alabama defensive end Yhonzae Pierre enters the 2026 season as the primary pass-rushing threat after leading the team with 8 sacks and 14.5 tackles-for-loss in 2025. While coaching staff expectations remain high for the fourth-year player, the defensive front has undergone significant changes to increase physical size and depth. Alabama integrated several high-profile transfers, including Devan Thompkins, Kedrick Bingley-Jones, Desmond Umeozulu, and Terrance Green, to bolster the pass rush unit. The program currently features 11 players standing at least 6-foot-4 and six players weighing 300 pounds or more.
