Young players shine at 47th Jaycees Home Run Derby in Honesdale

On June 7, the Honesdale Area Jaycees hosted the 47th annual Home Run Derby at the Daniel J. O’Neill Sports Complex, attracting around 50 participants aged 7-12. The event featured a pitching machine format, with competitors allowed 10 swings to accumulate points. Six divisions were held, and the top three from each division qualified for regional competition. A total of 16 local kids advanced, with the regional event set for Walnutport on August 1. Winners at the regional level will move on to compete at Citizen’s Bank Park for the championship on September 6.
