Youssef Zalal leaves Factory X to pursue training with Trevor Wittman

UFC featherweight contender Youssef Zalal has officially parted ways with Factory X, the Colorado-based gym where he trained for his entire professional career. The 30-year-old fighter, currently ranked No. 9 in the division, stated that he needs a new training environment to continue his evolution as an athlete. This decision follows a unanimous decision loss to Aljamain Sterling at UFC Vegas 116 nearly five months ago, which ended Zalal's eight-fight winning streak. While Zalal maintained that the loss did not prompt his departure, he is seeking a structure that offers more individualized instruction and a broader pool of sparring partners. He has identified Trevor Wittman as his target coach to guide his next developmental stage. Zalal does not plan to return to the octagon until December or early 2027 to ensure he is fully settled with a new team.
