Zach Braun leaves Newman Catholic for University of Notre Dame staff position

Zach Braun has resigned as athletic director of Newman Catholic, a position he held for approximately two months. Braun departed the Wausau school last week to join the University of Notre Dame women's lacrosse program as an operations specialist. Newman Catholic President Jeff Gulan confirmed the departure, noting that long-time football coach Paul Michlig served as interim athletic director during the transition. Marcus Wiegert was appointed as the new permanent athletic director for the school on Friday, Sept. 4. The school administration expressed a goal for stability in the department moving forward under Wiegert’s leadership following a period of turnover in the athletic office.
