Zebby Matthews leads Twins to victory over White Sox at Target Field

Zebby Matthews pitched 8.1 innings and surrendered only one earned run to help the Minnesota Twins avoid a series sweep against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. Matthews maintained a perfect game bid until the sixth inning when Drew Romo recorded a two-out single. The Twins offense provided early support with a three-run first inning, including a two-run double from Trevor Larnach and an RBI single by Josh Bell. Jeff Hoffman entered in the ninth inning to record the final two outs after Matthews allowed two hits and reached 103 pitches. The win marks Minnesota’s second victory in their last nine games.
