Zilla Fatu makes surprise debut during NXT main event

Rumors of WWE interest in Zilla Fatu have stretched back for months now, and word was getting around earlier today (Tues., Aug. 11, 2026) that he was at the Performance Center and had officially signed a contract with the company. Those rumors were clearly true, considering he crashed the party in the main event of this week’s episode of NXT television. Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana were trying to figure out who would earn an NXT championship match against Tony D’Angelo at Heatwave when Fatu came out of nowhere: Fatu has roots in Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling but did work in GCW and House of Glory, among other independent promotions. He is the son of the late Umaga, and is just 26-years-old. The Samoan Dynasty continues. As for the match he interrupted, it was apparently thrown out. He attacked Montana first, leading to the bell, but he also put the boots to Waller and commentary simply wondered what General Manager Robert Stone would do about all this. Fatu told D’Angelo, who was ringside, that he’s the new sheriff in town. With no winner, it was left unclear who would face D’Angelo at Heatwave. A Fatal 4-Way seems like the obvious choice.
